ABOUT DON MICHAEL
Known simply as “Don Mike,” and the sole American-born descendant of the Philippines’ United Broadcasting Network’s Hodreal Family, he is the Founder of DMH Mendoza Productions and the Co-Founder and Executive Producer of LA TI DO. Since 2012, he’s produced on Broadway with Tony Award winning teams (Here Lies Love), Off-Broadway (Hazing U), and hundreds of cabarets, concerts, plays, musicals, and events nationally. Most recently, he is a collaborator and the Executive Producer for “An Intimate Evening with Vincent Rodriguez III” presented at venues nationally. Notable collaborations include The John F. Kennedy Center, Arena Stage, Shakespeare Theatre Company, The Dramatists Guild Foundation, The Pittsburgh CLO, 54 Below, Green Room 42, Joe’s Pub, The Bowery Poetry Club and The Hawaii Theatre Center.
Concurrently, he served as the Pennsylvania State Chair for Filipino Americans for Harris-Walz, and as an independent marketing professional, he served as the first Director of Marketing & Media for the Filipino American Symphony Orchestra in Los Angeles, California.
In the online, film, and television spaces, he is the creator of his blog and host of the podcast of the same name: Producing While Asian, was the co-host of Kabayan New York on The Global Filipino Network, was an Associate Producer for the independent film The Girl Who Left Home, The Musical Feature released in 2020 where he also played a small supporting role alongside beloved Filipino actors Emy Coligado (Malcolm in the Middle) and Paolo Montalban (Whitney Houston’s Cinderella), and was recently featured in The Deliverance on Netflix.
Don Michael also sits on the American University Alumni Board, the Board of New York Theatre Barn and DC Theater Arts, and the Board of Directors for The Filipino American Association of Pittsburgh. He is an alumnus of the Commercial Theater Institute in New York City, holds a B.A. in Musical Theatre & Broadcast Journalism and an M.A. in Strategic Communication from American University, and is a proud 2006 graduate of The Winchester Thurston School in Pittsburgh, PA where he is on the Board of Trustees.
